An MRI performed today on Chucky Atkins revealed that the guard suffered a severe right groin strain during Thursday night's contest in Phoenix. Atkins is expected to be sidelined for 6-8 weeks.

Atkins had one of his career's best seasons in 2006-7 as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies. In 27.5 minutes per game he averaged 13.2 points, 1.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists.

The 5-11, 185-pound point guard is one of the only capable point guards on the Nuggets roster, so this injury hurts.
