Josh BooneNew Jersey Nets rookie forward Josh Boone underwent successful arthroscopic surgery today, Wednesday, July 19, to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, Nets President Rod Thorn announced. The surgery was performed by Dr. Riley Williams III at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

“Josh experienced some discomfort in his shoulder during our recent summer league in Orlando,” said Thorn. “A subsequent MRI revealed the tear, and all parties involved felt that surgery was the most prudent option at this juncture. We expect him to make a full recovery and to be a contributor to the team during the season.”

Boone, the 23rd pick overall in the recent 2006 NBA Draft, will be in a sling for two weeks, after which time he will begin rehabilitation. There is no timetable for his return.

In the recent Pepsi Pro Summer League in Orlando, the 6-10 Connecticut product averaged 10.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in five games.

Discuss Boone and the team on the New Jersey Nets Forum.
