| Dec. 3, 2006

Chris Bosh interviewSaturday night in New York the Toronto Raptors beat the Knicks 103-100. Chris Bosh had 26 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Here's a post-game interview with Bosh featuring questions from InsideHoops.com editor Jeff Lenchiner and a few local Toronto reporters. Below we posted one or two game-related questions, but the rest is general stuff about the Raptors and Eastern conference.

Question: The bench was very good tonight. Happy about that?

Chris bosh: The bench was great, especially on a back-to-back, you need the bench to play well. In the second half. Guys like (Kris) Humphries, Joey (Graham) came in and played well, Freddy (Jones) came in and gave us some minutes, Jose (Calderon) always plays well. We had a lot of guys come in and really help us out.

Question: Do you think you're moving a bit better now than even a week ago?

Chris bosh: Way better. Way better. It's getting a lot better than it was before. I'm used to the brace now, so. It was all about comfort level... I just had to get my confidence back a little bit.

Question: Quentin Richardson, he got off to a hot start but got contained in the final three quarters. Was it an adjustment you guys made?

Chris bosh: Yeah. We knew he's one of the best shooters in the league from behind the arc. We knew we had to contest his shots. He got off to that quick start and we knew we had to run him off. We pre-rotated to him early, made him put it on the floor, and luckily he never got [that] hot.

Question: Do you check the standings, this early in the season?

Chris bosh: I know what our record is. I know the standings because people can't help but tell us. It's looking decent for us right now. We know we got to get over .500. We got to keep working and just try to win every game. The attitude is changing around here.

Question: The East is more wide open this year than it's been in a long time. Is that on your mind?

Chris bosh: Yeah. That's the main thing. That's why guys can't hang their heads that long. We kind of got off to a slow start, but we're kind of picking it up. And no no matter what happens, if we go into a slump or we go on a winning streak, we have to be aware that we could lose it, or someone else can lose it. And that gives other teams a chance to move up.

Question: It seems like this is the one year where teams better than you guys and teams worse than you guys have a legit shot at rising to the top of the East, even in the playoffs.

Chris bosh: Yeah. Every team that just puts their mind to it, they can do [it]. It's all about who wants it the most. And we have to want it.

Question: Is it hard for you to get used to lots of teammates that you've never seen play before?

Chris bosh: In our situation, fortunately I got to see Jorge (Garbajosa) play. I didn't get a chance to see Andrea (Bargnani) play, but you know what? That's one of the challenges we had early in the season. And we have to continue to learn one another. That's the main thing. Unlike some other teams, they may get a player which they know about. We have to get accustomed to each other, learn what each other likes to do, and I think it's progressing pretty quickly.
