- longest tenured coach in professional sports

- Jerry Sloan is from McLeansboro, Illinois

- led Jazz to 16 consecutive winning seasons, ending streak with losing 2004-05 season

- in 2003-04 came in second behind Hubie Brown in NBA Coach of Year voting

- before the Jazz, Sloan compiled a 94-121 (.437 percent) record in nearly three seasons with the Chicago Bulls

- Jerry Sloan was assistant coach in Chicago for two seasons (1977-79)

- worked as a Bulls scout in 1976-77

- briefly was head coach of the Evansville Thunder in the CBA in 1984 but resigned to become Frank Layden's assistant before ever coaching a game

- Jerry Sloan as NBA player was rugged, tough

- Sloan earned four NBA All-Defensive First Team selections (1968-69, 1971-72, 1973-75) and two Second Team selections (1969-71)

- Nicknamed "The Original Bull" because Chicago Bulls selected him first in the 1966 Expansion Draft

- Jerry Sloan remained with Bulls and played ten seasons in Chicago

- Originally drafted by Baltimore Bullets in the second round with their first selection in the 1965 NBA Draft

- Averaged 14.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 755 contests

- Two-time NBA All-Star who played for West team in 1967 and 1969

- Knee injury prematurely ended Jerry Sloan's basketball playing career in 1975-76

- Chicago retired Jerry Sloan’s #4 jersey on February 17, 1978

- Played three seasons at Evansville after transferring from Illinois before 1961-62 season

- Averaged 15.5 points and 12.4 rebounds in 85 contests

- Jerry Sloan was named outstanding player in the 1964 and 1965 NCAA College Division II Tournaments

- in senior season Sloan averaged 17.6 points and 14.7 rebounds, led Purple Aces to 29-0 record and Division II National Championship.
