Brilliant facilitation from Tatum with only 6 seconds on the clock. Penetrated the D and on the money pass to white at the 3 point line. Then gathers and gets the foul.

If not for Jrue playing well the Celtics would be getting blown out.
He has been amazing. His shot isn't always there in the playoffs but everything is strength at the rim tonight.

Doncic is an incomplete player. He excels in individual offense. On the defensive end, he is slow and often can't keep the ball handler in front of him. The main area he's improved is his team offense this year in terms of wise facillitation instead of assists that just come from ball dominance. He does not set screens regularly for teammates,...

Significantly better?
I wouldnt say significantly.
In fact in this year’s playoffs I wouldnt even say “at all.”

How have they solved it? The Celtics always have one game where they shoot like dog shit. This doesn’t have anything to due with the Mavs.

Thats been the design of their offense all year. Spread out, go one on one and kick to a shooter.
All teams do this to an extent now but most teams mix in some other actions throughout the game.
The Celtics it’s literally all they do. Theres no sets, no motion, no two-man game between anyone. It’s a five spread, swing it around the...

Tatum is absolute garbage!
this guy just cannot finish around the rim.
I cannot believe he has Kobe as an idol.
this guy is just not a superstar material.

At least they've solved the 3 point shooting from Celtics.
Mavs role players are going to be much better at home. It would be very good for Mavs to steal this game though. If they do, I might think Mavs hold the upper hand.

Indy PG yes, but he's obviously way more impactful than western conference PG.
Probably Tatum would benefit from someone like Pop. I think he'd be better in a more defined, motion system. He doesn't have the creativity to make reads.

I just don't feel like this is sustainable for Dallas. Luka is gonna have to drop nearly 50 AND the Celtics are going to have to continue to shoot badly from 3 in order for Dallas to have a chance to win this game. The only way to offset this is if Kyrie finally makes an imprint on this series.

It's not only his athleticism.
Hoblegged Kawhi could still dominate.
He needs a dribble-pullup midrange.
Right now, he's too predictable with his lack of change of pace.

Indeed.
To me his impact is closer to a Paul George. Not a small thing but by no means an MVP.

They're giving away layups and giving zero open 3s.
I've always wondered what that strategy would actually look like since teams like Celtics are based entirely on the fake-help, hedge defense that most teams run.

Why lol? They were very close. Couple shots drop here and there and the series goes the other way. They’re a good team and will only get better.

He just doesn't have the talent to be what everybody wants him to be. Besides Bird, the wings who were consistently making the Finals and performing well were all elite athletes - Dr J, MJ, Clyde, Kobe, LeBron, Wade, Kawhi. Tatum's athleticism sticks out like a sore thumb compared to those guys. His lack of first step and general rigidness makes...

Celtics off the ball are extremely Lazy. Not getting open for the ball-handler. Celts often penetrate but then face 3 defenders down low; someone else on the Celtics needs to cut to the basket. Bizarre they are not.

Next year Mavs need to get even more athletic and stronger.
They've been outhustled and outworked by Celtics and it's the role players that can't cope.

Please don't misunderstand. He's a terrific player. But holy hell is Tatum is overrated. He is not an MVP level player. Can this please be the end of that? I don't care if he gets Finals MVP. He's not an MVP level player. Never has been and never will be.
