Thats a good point.
This IS a consolation title. Im happy for Boston, its a cute little trinket for the trophy case, but we know this doesnt tell the story of the season. The IN SEASON tournament has already crowned our 23-24 champion. And it’s Lebron James.

That doesn’t matter when Dallas had help defense behind. Clips and okc tried that too going after Luka. All of them had non shooters to help off Boston doesn’t

Milwaukee would have to be the logical choice here. They're honestly the only team I'd give a legit shot at knocking them off in the East.

Congrats to the Celtics and all that, but this will be officially remembered as #given not earned.
Again, kudos on a great season. But it is a Championship* not a Championship. That has to be acknowledged.

But luka was said to have 'overtaken' jordan during the 2020 disney bubble if things were to be recalled correctly.

The obvious answer is Atlanta after they take Bronny #1, but beyond that… I dont see an obvious candidate.

Kong having to be familiar with too many teammates may be a factor about them not winning on a consistent basis. That's why a lot of shuffling or overhauling bt were involved and one that is recurring in his career until now.

I think Boston’s bringin the whole band back, no? I guess depending on whether Horford decides to retire on top or not.
Theyre gonna be overwhelming favs to come out of the East again assuming they stay mostly healthy. Who do you see with even a chance of dethroning them at this point?

The man he's guarding is a basketball player. Even if you can't create at a high level you can cut to the basket. Set a pick and roll off of it. Just run around somewhere, do something. Everyone on Minnie just stood around and watched Edwards try and won the game by himself with KAT doing his Antoine Walker impersonation. Doncic got to go all...

Double post but i never say something is a sure thing, but i repeat, thinking about it, i just could not conceive of a way. It was really that serious for me. Like a 95-98% chance. I even said i didn’t think porzingis mattered. Sure you can say it was 5050, but i dunno, man, if you really think about it and look at the teams, it’s hard to see how...

The 4 and 5 are the most important positions to decide this. I'd rather sub in Raptors Gasol for Perkins than sub prime Deron Williams for 08 Rondo. For this matchup at least.

Luka fouling out is a really low IQ play. I'm honestly disappointed in him. He should have been nowhere close to Brown.

There was nothing Minnesota could have done to attack him. What makes Boston different from every other team in the league is there's no one you can help off of.

This is how i feel. Finals always gets me wanting to talk bball. Rip my thumbs cuz im writing on ipad.
First off somewhat irrelevantly, i don’t know that 38 year old big al moves better than gobert, but he is so much better at cutting things off. In no galaxy down 2 would al ever let luka get a 3.
Minny has conley who is an og. If ant could...

It really shouldnt have taken anyone this series to realize that. Ive been makin that exact point for years.
It’s not a slight on Luka. NOBODY catchin LeKang. He’s uno of uno.

Doc rivers led that 08 team but they were also coming off a 24-win season the previous year. That 42-win turnaround was nothing short of outstanding but like you said, they've had some massive struggles in the postseason. If thibs wasn't involved in their coaching staff, maybe they would have lost along the way.

Thats fine, and as I said both teams had cases to be made. My point is everyone had a 50-50 chance of being right just by registering a vote. Of course everyone who picked Boston is gonna look like their reasons were right at this point. That doesnt mean the series COULDNT have gone the other way.
If it was that foregone a conclusion everyone...

Not to mention Rondo was really a year or two away from arriving as a player. 2010 Rondo with Marc Gasol on that '08 squad wouldn't be fair.

Facts. That 2013 team is one of only four championship teams in NBA history to be outrebounded on average. And of those four, they were by far the worst of the bunch, literally dead last in rebounding. 30th out of 30 teams.
The fact that their season changed once they acquired Chris Andersen is proof of how huge an issue their lack of bigs...

Kendrick Perkins makes 2024 an easy choice for me.
You need a team with a strong 4 AND 5 to beat this team. Pound them inside. Bully ball KP and achy knee Horford. Swap Kendrick Perkins with prime-ish Marc Gasol and it easily goes the other way imo. KG and Marc would wear them down inside on both ends.

What this series showed us is that Luka will never reach LeBron's level. He could have all the skill in the world, but his athleticism holds him back, his defense has been pretty bad these last 2 games. Peak LeBron was all over the court defensively and guarding multiple positions.

Denver would be tough, Celtics would struggle vs Joker. Minnie would get beat because they're stupid. A dumb team isn't beating the Celtics in a series. I still can't believe they let Doncic take a nap in the corner on defense all game long.
