True, but that wasn't peak Mutombo. It was already his 10th year. He averaged only 2.7bpg that year. That's worse that any of his previous seasons. His peak was at 4.5 bpg 5 years earlier.
Garnett & Duncan had were statistically better, but Mutombo won the DPOY based on team narrative. Even David Robinson, Ben Wallace, and Theo Ratliff had...

“Whenever Nikola gets it going like that, you have to take a step back and allow him to dictate the way the game is going to go,” Jamal Murray said. “He had 40. He missed seven shots on the Defensive Player of the Year (Gobert), and it felt like he had 50.” – via New York Times

Payton was 2 inches shorter than Jordan. He had a plumbing license as well.
Payton didn't guard Jordan until game 4. The series went 2-1, in favour of the Sonics, with the 6'4" plumber clamping down Jordan.
Jordan's stats:
Game 4: 23 pts, 31.6 FG%
Game 5: 26 pts, 50 FG%
game 6: 22 pts, 26.3%
He got locked up.

Every time I have watched Gobert extensively, which is usually the playoffs, I am underwhelmed. Obviously he is a valuable defender, but I never get the impression he is truly a dominant defensive force like say a prime Mutombo. I also feel someone like Chet Holmgren is simply a better rim protector. Gobert doesn't seem to have good reaction speed.

Rudy Gobert - 4x DPOY (my very partisan/biased take - while Duncan with 0) - Bill Russell is rolling in his grave.
If someone as mild-mannered as Jokic has a "thing" for Gobert - good for Jokic.
Gobert needs to EARN those DPOYs, and he deserves the criticism.

You know that when a team is led by someone in +/- in losses, but someone else in wins that means the guy who leads them in losses has no impact? Meaning him playing good or rather being the best player in a certain game is actually detrimental to the team?

The most recent one I recall having his matchup specifically sought out over and over to the detriment of his team is Rudy himself in previous years when they would just find a way to make him guard a shooter knowing he couldn’t stand to do it and would roam and leave him open.

You are projecting. I didn't quote your prediction about the Denver series even though it was laughable at the time and even moreso after game 2.
Indy isn't nearly as good as the Knicks. The only reason the series isn't over is because of the Knicks injuries. Robinson and OG played huge roles against Philly and both are out, not to mention...

Rudy’s problem at this point seems to be that it’s a matchup Jokic actually cares about individually destroying. Rudy seems to be the only person he gets the ball against and looks at like he’s going to teach him a lesson. He normally doesn’t seem to care. He’s just out there chilling. He might have a good game, but it’s not because he’s trying to...

In the regular season, the Wolves allowed the least points. They also choked offenses, resulting in the lowest opponent FG%. No wonder, as they have the reigning DPOY. KAT is there too, making it especially difficult for bigs.
Jokic's numbers on this series: 29.4 ppg on 53.8 FG%, 10.4 rpg, 9.2 apg, 2.2 spg, 1.2 bpg
He is feasting against the...

You are right on this one. He got cooked a bit but also he got fouls on perimeter mistakes. And a LeBron Stan fav plus/ minus he is one of the best for his team.
I get trolling that dude but the facts dont show that

Game 5 Murray basically matched Ant’s production. AG matched KAT. KCP matched NAW. Porter matched McDaniels. Braun matched Reid. That leaves Rudy needing to match Jokic which is never going to happen. These guys gotta step it up next game.

Large margin is right. Jokic EFF 41.4 in 10 games. Next up among others in the 2nd round: SGA 31.1, Antman 31.0, then Luka and Tatum at 27.7.
