He had the greatest overall basketball career of all time. RIP. I can't help but feel that the Lakers should have been the ones making this announcement, not the Clippers.

Wow, Rip.
Only all-time great player who also went on and became one of the best GMs in history.

Rest in Peace Jerry West. Just heard about it on ESPN. Was announced by the Clippers who he worked for... can't help but feel it's the Lakers that should be making this announcement.

Did you look up that 1989 Piston team? When I say none of them averaged 20 I am talking about the whole team. Of course you didn't know that, you likely weren't even alive in 1989. You just desperately sought out some kind of argument. Sorry but you don't have one.
Jrue Holiday has made the allstar game twice and has one ring. I hope he soon...

You could also say Lebron was the best at Longevity while Jordan was 2nd or 3rd in Peak behind Mikan and Wilt. Depending on if you value rings or stats.

One of the many reasons I crap on Shaq as an all-timer is you look at his Miami team and you look at Bron's Miami and it's embarrassing to see how much talent was on that roster.
Shaq won a single tainted ring with three vet MVP level guys (Payton, and Mourning) along with a young core of Walker, Williams, Wade, and Haslem.
Everyone acts...

Not a single of them averaged 20 ppg, but you went ahead and mentioned a 37 year old Ray Allen who averaged like 11 PPG. :oldlol:
He was obviously a key contributor, but the way you went and said Miami had 4 hall of famers like Ray Allen was in his prime is pretty shameless.
And no, it leaves us at 3.

I sure hope it is not by design. It is nearly impossible to win when you allow that easy of penetration to collapse the defense on a team that excels at shooting threes off penetration.
He needs to play better on defense to a significant degree in order to beat a team like this. Same thing with the turnovers, obviously some are going to happen,...

You can't say peak MJ blows peak LeBron out of the water but you can so Lebron's longevity blows MJs out of the water

the problem with the narrative is that "athletic" and "explosive" plays is connected to the pace when it doesn't whatsoever

I go generation and position...peak and longevity are kinda of their own things and they are very subjective.
I value a productive longevity (Stockton, KAJ, Lebron, Duncan) but I also look at consistent peaks (Jordan, Dr J, Bird, West)

Tatum is significantly bigger than Irving. Tatum may now be a little taller than Ingram but wasn't in his first few years. Find another excuse.

It isn't always the case because there's other factors that go along with it. Kyrie is clearly a more skilled offensive player than Tatum for example.

Chalmers definitely would've. He was a decent role player. Way more talented than like Derek Fisher or something.
Joel would be a bench scrub but when you sign 2 MVP talents and an All NBA talent all on max deals there's not gonna be much money left over.
They still ended up getting Birdman, Battier, and Ray who all played absolutely...

As one of the biggest Tatum criticizers on here I think he's actually having a solid series
He's been great in terms of defense and rebounding and has made the right play 95% of the time
Dallas are sending multiple bodies at him every time he touches the ball which has opened up easy looks for the rest of the team

Yea. I was about to say this. With T-Mac, yea he didn't have the longevity, but he also didn't do much else. He never got out of the 1st round, never won an MVP, let alone a FMVP, was never DPOY or All-Defensive 1st Team (though an argument could be made that in a couple years, he was almost as good a defender as Kobe), etc.

you can't win championships and not be cohesive or underachieve, people probably have difficulty in comprehending how players of the same age group (draft class) ended up having different ambition in professional sports.

Long story short, many believed that heat team from that era could have done better due to the hype they had bt. They didn't feel as cohesive as the dub dynasty that started in 2015 and therefore, some people probably couldn't help but feel that they 'underachieved.'

Longevity has to matter a lot, at least to a point, because otherwise people should have Tracy McGrady on Kobe Bryant's level, and the truth is none of us do. So anyone who argues that longevity doesn't matter is lying.
Longevity is also the reason that Shaq isn't the GOAT.
