It isn't always the case because there's other factors that go along with it. Kyrie is clearly a more skilled offensive player than Tatum for example.

I feel confident enough to say Derrick White has outplayed Jason Kidd in his 2011 finals run.

Chalmers definitely would've. He was a decent role player. Way more talented than like Derek Fisher or something.
Joel would be a bench scrub but when you sign 2 MVP talents and an All NBA talent all on max deals there's not gonna be much money left over.
They still ended up getting Birdman, Battier, and Ray who all played absolutely...

As one of the biggest Tatum criticizers on here I think he's actually having a solid series
He's been great in terms of defense and rebounding and has made the right play 95% of the time
Dallas are sending multiple bodies at him every time he touches the ball which has opened up easy looks for the rest of the team

Yea. I was about to say this. With T-Mac, yea he didn't have the longevity, but he also didn't do much else. He never got out of the 1st round, never won an MVP, let alone a FMVP, was never DPOY or All-Defensive 1st Team (though an argument could be made that in a couple years, he was almost as good a defender as Kobe), etc.

Prime Joel Anthony wouldn't even make a 12 man roster in today's NBA, neither would Chalmers

Tracy was more of a accomplishment issue tho, not longevity.

you can't win championships and not be cohesive or underachieve, people probably have difficulty in comprehending how players of the same age group (draft class) ended up having different ambition in professional sports.

Long story short, many believed that heat team from that era could have done better due to the hype they had bt. They didn't feel as cohesive as the dub dynasty that started in 2015 and therefore, some people probably couldn't help but feel that they 'underachieved.'

Longevity has to matter a lot, at least to a point, because otherwise people should have Tracy McGrady on Kobe Bryant's level, and the truth is none of us do. So anyone who argues that longevity doesn't matter is lying.
Longevity is also the reason that Shaq isn't the GOAT.

Because he's a mod alt. You or I doing this dumb shit would be on the perma-ban list years ago. The better question is why do people continue to engage with this tired shtick?! Every single reply to this moron including the 1-9 responses just prompts him to keep it going.

Peak and dominance were the rubric for decades. Clutch Media came around to change the narrative in order to help LeBron's case. It doesn't matter anyway. Hakeem is the GOAT.

Saying Allen's age doesn't mean anything when Allen was such a crucial player to the Heat in 2013 and 2014. RMWG already highlighted his clutch three to save Miami in the finals against the Spurs, but let's not forget that Ray in the playoffs with Miami put up 10 PPG in just 25 minutes of action in the playoffs during those years on 59% TS%.

GetUp had a set on this if i'm not mistaken...they focused on how it was not too long ago Celtics were looking to blow up everything in splitting Tatum/Brown, and Stevens then being able to turn it all around over the last couple seasons by turning Smart into KP + picks, and those same picks landing Jrue.
Stevens deserves the credit for this...

The Heat had THREE franchise players in their primes - one of whom many of you claim is the GOAT. Not 3, not 4, ... brought to you from a front seat up close in Miami.

I'm pretty sure that's by design to a) not put him in foul trouble/not gas him out and b) to run Tatum off the 3-PT line. When it was a close game in the 4th he had some great defensive possessions.

I'm not trolling. When I said Ingram was more skilled in years past I actually meant it, but obviously stuff like injuries & teammates play a key role in someone's career success. Porzingis is a lot better than his stats and his career for example as well, but he just can't stay healthy. A healthy KP is one of the best 2-way players in the league...

Could you imagine the implications if this were actually allowed? LeBron, age 15 holding his own against guys like 38 year old MJ, Artest etc just like the pickup games. :biggums:
I doubt he would dominate MJ btw. But if he could legit just hold his own. Hold MJ to an average of 20 points or whatever when they match up, get himself some...
