Kris HumphriesThe Toronto Raptors announced Tuesday they have exercised the fourth year team option on the Rookie Scale Contract of forward Kris Humphries. Humphries is now guaranteed through the 2007-08 season. In accordance with the league’s collective bargaining agreement, the Raptors had until today to exercise their option on Humphries. Per team policy, financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Humphries, 6-foot-9, 235 pounds, was acquired June 8 from Utah. He saw action in all eight preseason contests, averaging 9.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in 16.30 minutes. He had a high of 16 points versus Cleveland on October 22 and 12 rebounds October 15 versus New Jersey.

Humphries was a first-round selection (14th overall) by the Jazz in 2004. The former University of Minnesota product was an early entry candidate after one season with the Gophers. He was the first freshman to lead the Big Ten in both scoring (21.7) and rebounding (10.1), and was named 2004 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and All-Big Ten First Team by the media and coaches.

Humphries averaged 3.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 11.6 minutes in 129 career games with Utah. He saw action in 62 games in 2005-06, averaging 3.0 points and 2.5 rebounds. He had a high of 16 points and 10 rebounds at Phoenix on November 18 for his second career double-double.
