Mikki MooreThe New Jersey Nets have acquired center Mikki Moore from the Seattle SuperSonics for a second round draft pick in 2009, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today.

“We are pleased to add Mikki to our roster,” said Thorn. “He is a veteran presence who will add depth to our frontcourt rotation.”

The 7-0 Moore has career marks of 4.5 points and 3.1 rebounds in 303 games. Last season, he appeared in 47 games for Seattle, averaging 3.3 points and 2.8 rebounds. The eight-year veteran has played for seven NBA teams (Detroit, Boston, Atlanta, New Jersey, Utah, Los Angeles Clippers and Seattle). The Nebraska product, who was undrafted out of college, appeared in four games for the Nets during the 2003-04 season, averaging less than a point per game.

“Mikki was always a true professional and we would like to thank him for all of his contributions on and off of the court,” said Sonics General Manager Rick Sund. “We are pleased with the current depth of our roster in the post position and look forward to seeing what our three young centers bring to the court this season.”

Moore signed with the Sonics as a free agent on Aug. 31, 2005 and appeared in 47 games during the 2005-06 season, his ninth in the league. During the season, he averaged 3.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in 12.4 minutes per game.

In 303 NBA games overall, the former University of Nebraska player holds career averages of 4.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. During the 2004-05 season, Moore’s eighth in the NBA, he appeared in 74 games with the L.A. Clippers, averaging 5.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 15.9 minutes. Moore recorded a career-high 14 rebounds vs. the L.A. Lakers on Dec. 11, 2004.
