InsideHoops.com: Marcus Williams is a true point guard, a great passer who sees the floor and runs a basketball team properly. Not particularly quick or fast. Also not very athletic and has fallen out of shape in the past (but we don't expect that to happen again). Marucs hits threes but usually only takes them when he's wide open. He reminds us a bit of former Knicks point guard Mark Jackson or current NBA point guards Deron Williams or Andre Miller. At worst, he's a better Khalid El-Amin.

As a junior in 2005-06, UConn's Marcus Williams was an All-Big East Second Team selection. Appeared in 23 games, averaging 12.3 points and 8.6 assists. Led the Big East in assists in league games with 8.6 per game. Reached double figures in assists eight times on the season and recorded eight or more in 16 games. Named to the NCAA Washington, D.C. Regional All-Tournament Team. Averaged 20.0 points and 8.8 assists in the NCAA Tourney, shooting .522 from the field, .556 from three-point range and .957 from the free throw line.

As a sophomore in 2004-05, Williams was named the Big East Most Improved Player and was an All-Big East Third Team selection. Started all 31 games at the point guard position. Led the Big East and finished third in the nation with 7.8 apg. Averaged a league-leading 8.4 assists in Big East play.

As a freshman in 2003-04, Marcus came off the bench to average 2.9 points and 4.3 assists. Did not play in final 14 games of regular season and all of postseason for academic reasons.
