The Memphis Grizzlies acquired forward Marcus Vinicius, the draft rights to Malick Badiane and cash considerations in exchange for the draft rights to Sergei Lishouk as part of a three-team trade also involving the Houston Rockets and the New Orleans Hornets, club General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today.

Memphis will receive Vinicius from New Orleans and the draft rights to Badiane, as well as cash considerations, from Houston. New Orleans will obtain guard/forward Bonzi Wells and guard Mike James from Houston. Houston will receive guard Bobby Jackson, guard Adam Haluska and a 2008 second-round pick from New Orleans along with the draft rights to Lishouk from Memphis.

Vinicius (Va-NEE-Shus), the 43rd overall selection in the 2006 NBA Draft, has averaged 2.2 points in 5.3 minutes in 13 games for New Orleans this season. The 6-8, 225-pound forward was a member of the Brazilian Men’s National Team at the 2007 FIBA Americas Men’s Championship and holds NBA career averages of 1.9 points in 6.6 minutes in 26 games.

Badiane (Muh-LEEK Bah-Dee-En), a 6-11 center, was drafted 44th overall by Houston in the 2003 NBA Draft. Badiane has since played professionally in Germany and was a member of the Senegalese National Team in the 2006 FIBA World Championship.

Lishouk (Sir-GAY Leesh-CHUK), a member of the Ukrainian National Team, was the 49th overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft by Memphis. The 6-11 forward also participated with the Grizzlies’ summer league teams in 2005 and 2007.

Jackson (6-1, 185, Minnesota) holds career averages of 10.0 points (.419, 2,474-5,906 FG), 3.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 658 games (128 starts) with Denver, Minnesota, Sacramento, Memphis and New Orleans. He has also averaged 9.3 points in 52 career postseason contests and was an integral part of Sacramento's 2001-02 Western Conference Finals team. This season, Jackson has averaged 7.1 points, 2.4 boards and 1.7 assists in 46 games with the Hornets. Jackson scored a season-best 25 points vs. Miami (1/11/08), hitting 7-of-7 treys to set a career high and a Hornets franchise record for most 3-pointers made without a miss (third in NBA record books). He also had 17 points (5-9 3FG) in his final appearance with the Hornets vs. Dallas (2/20/08). In his 11th NBA season, Jackson had his best campaign with Sacramento in 2002-03, averaging a career-best 15.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.20 steals en route to becoming the first player in Kings history to win the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award. He also finished second in voting for the 2002 NBA Sixth Man Award and fourth in voting for the 2001 NBA Sixth Man Award.

Haluska (6-5, 210, Iowa), who was selected by New Orleans in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2007 NBA Draft, has yet to see action this season (inactive list 51 games and one DNP-CD). In college, Haluska averaged 16.1 points and 4.4 rebounds in 98 games (98 starts) at Iowa. He was named First-Team All-Big Ten as a senior and was selected Third-Team All-Big Ten as a junior. Haluska spent his final three college seasons with the Hawkeyes after playing his freshman year at Iowa State, where he was a member of the Big 12 All-Freshman Team.

Lishouk (6-11, 232, Ukraine), who has played in the Ukrainian League for Azovmash Mariupol (2005-08), was selected by the Grizzlies in the second round (49th overall) in the 2004 NBA Draft (June 24, 2004). The 6-11 forward also participated with Memphis' summer league teams in 2005 and 2007. Lishouk averaged 16.3 points and 8.3 rebounds in nine games with Khimik Yuzhniy in FIBA Europe Cup in 2003-04. Prior to that, he averaged 11.8 points and 6.2 rebounds in 172 games over five seasons with Pulsa Rovno in the Ukrainian League. He made his pro debut during the 1998-99 season with Pulsar Rovno. He was also a member of the Ukrainian National Team, competing in the European Championships in Turkey in 2001. In addition, Lishouk played in the European Championships for Under-20 Men in Lithuania in 2002 as a member of the Ukrainian Under-20 National Team.
